Lodging an Appeal in NMC FTP Cases
A nurse who is aggrieved by the outcome of an NMC Fitness to Practise decision, made by the Conduct and Competence Committee (CCC) must usually lodge an appeal with the relevant appeal court within 28 days of the decision on sanction being announced.
A nurse must identify grounds of appeal that the appeal court may attach weight to. This is not an easy task. There is no point citing minor points that had little bearing on the decision-making process. Grounds should be set out in the form of propositions:
- The panel erred in making a finding dishonesty, on evidence that was inherently weak and unreliable.
